Hurricane Season!  Be Prepared! Be Safe!!

Make sure the MYC office has a valid cell phone on file in case we have to contact you.  This is essential if you have property on the premises!

Have a hurricane plan.  If you don’t , no better time then right now to make sure that your trailers are road ready and that you have picked out your “hurricane hole” in which to weather the storm.

When a hurricane watch is issued, please remember to take your boat off the premises and make sure that you secure it wherever it is relocated.

Unsafe boats endangering the property may be towed away at the owner’s expense!

Once evacuations have started off the barrier islands, the bridges spanning the Intercoastal Waterway will only be opened infrequently until lockdown.  Local marine law enforcement agencies will put out advisories to all mariners regarding when the bridges will be locked down, which will reduce the time you have to move your boat and may trap you.  Monitor VHF channel 16 for those advisories.

During storms, the MYC facilities will be used to store and secure MYC and MYC YSF property.  Please do not secure your boats in Club sheds—if you do your property will be moved out to make room for Club property.

24 hours after a storm, you can begin to check our status.  It is important to check the Club’s status before bringing your boats back to here.  Often we are without power and water and need to assess our damages before the facilities are safe and secure for your property.

Be Prepared!  Be Safe!
