History of the Regatta

In 1960, Mark Albury became the 1st skipper to win the Key Largo Perpetual Trophy Shark Class; and in 1974, he served as Commodore.   A memorial race to honor him was first held in 1991.  The Mark Albury Perpetual Trophy is presented to the first beach catamaran to cross the finish line with the best corrected time in the annual Miami to Key Largo Race.  For photos of Commodore Albury and his wife, click Commodore Albury and Albury & Wife.
