"Boot Class"
(Green Fleet)

Boot Class or Green Fleet is the first series of instruction in sailing. There
are no expectations of any existing sailing skills or experiences for students
who participate in this class.
Students will learn basic boating safety, terminology, how to rig the boat,
knot tying and line handling, identification of wind direction, points of sail
terminology and be able to steer the boat on a straight course and through tacks
and gibes.
For safety, the first class should include both a swim and capsize test so
that the lead instructor can assess proper fit of life jacket, comfort in the
water, and reduce fear of capsizing.
A U.S. Sailing Curriculum is offered in four 3 hour lessons.
